SHMRRC Minutes
Wednesday, January 30,
2019
The meeting was held
at the Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church, President Jeff Graybill
presiding.
Attendees:
Jeff Graybill
Dave Murphy
Rich Aubel
Dale Vilsack
Paul Kwiecinski
Rick Lambert
.
Presidents Report:
The next setup will be at the Scott
Township Pool Building from February 28th to March 2nd, 2019. Setup
will start on Thursday, February 28th at 6:00 pm and operations will be on
Friday, March 1 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday, March 2 from 12:00 to
5:00 pm. Dave Murphy will coordinate with Scott Township to finalize the
plans for getting into the building on those three days. Based on the
January 14th visit we will request that the township supply power to the
setup from the wall via the overhead trusses and drop a line down within our
oval from above. Dave also distributed flyers to the members present for
display at appropriate places.
Treasurers Report:
There was no treasurer's report due to
the lack of an attending treasurer. Dues which are usually collected at the
January meeting will be collected at the February meeting.
Business:
There were six members
in attendance who unanimously agreed that we had a quorum.
Dues were proposed to
remain at $35 per year and unanimously approved.
The members proposed
that the current officers be retained for the year 2019. As there were no
objections from the current officers, the proposal was unanimously approved.
The July Greenberg
Show is scheduled for July 20-21. As not all of our members are able to
attend it was suggested that we give Div. 2 the email addresses of all the
SHMRRC members who have modules. It will be up to the Div. 2 coordinator to
contact our members individually and give them the option of joining their
setup.
Jeff noted that the
Trolley Museum is in the process of completing renovations and it might be
interesting to visit there. He also noted that due to the death of the Age
of Steam owner we should try to keep informed of any change in their future
attendance policy.
Paul reported that the
TCA show in York, Pa. on April 11-13 is proposing a change in their setup.
Previously, HO gauge vendors were distributed throughout the seven buildings
used for the show. The new arrangement will have HO gauge layouts in their
own building along with the HO gauge vendors. The members in attendance
agreed that we had no desire to take our modules to York.
It was suggested that the February
meeting be held on Thursday, February 28th at the Scott Township Pool
Building since we will all be there for setup. The members agreed that it
would be a good idea. No suggestion was made as to whether the meeting will
be held before setup or after.
After all the interest shown in the
club at the Carnegie Science Center, it was disappointing that no new
possible members attended this meeting. The -3 degree temperature might
have been a factor so we need to consider that they may try to attend the
February meeting. This poses a problem since we have moved the meeting to
Scott Township. Two ideas were presented to solve the problem:
First, we need to update the
information on the website to reflect that, for the February 2019 meeting
only, the date and location is changed. Listing the new date and location
(along with an address) on the website is the only way we have to inform
them.
Second, someone should be at
the usual meeting place on Wednesday, February 27th before 7:00 to inform
anyone showing up there about the change.
Another suggestion was made to have a
clipboard and business cards at all future setups so that we can get
potential members' names, email addresses, and phone numbers (optional).
This would allow us to remind potential member that a meeting was coming
up. A copy of the signup sheet is attached.
Program:
Since there were no
new members, any show and tell items previously presented were dispensed
with. Rich Aubel showed a figure he made for Dave Murphy of a man checking
under the hood of his car.
Rick Lambert brought
in a box of kits that he offered to the members free of charge.
The meeting was
adjourned at 7:55 pm.
Respectfully submitted
Rich Aubel
