SHMRRC Minutes for the Monthly Meeting

The meeting was held at Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church, President Jeff Graybill presiding.

 Presidents Report:

The meeting was started by welcoming new members Skip Haig, John Kolonay, and John Raczkiewicz to the club.

 

The Greenberg Train Show in Monroeville was successful and after a few minor track corrections the trains ran well.  Even though several members couldn’t attend with their modules the layout combined with the Div 2 modules were enough to fill the area assigned.  The club also received an honorarium of $125 for participating.

 

The next Greenberg Train Show will be in November at yet unspecified dates.  We also don’t know at this time whether the Mt. Lebanon Light Night will be held this year so we are going to wait until more information is available to decide which of the shows we will attend.

 

Treasurers Report:

The current funds available are $4387.25 in checking and $551.00 in cash.  After some advanced math the total reported is $4938.25 in the treasury.

 

Program:

Jeff Graybill presented a clinic on the types and construction of tunnels.  Timber, stone, and concrete portals were discussed along with tunnel linings, wingwalls, and access to trains that may derail inside tunnels. 

 

Jeff also brought a scenery instruction book that he recommended called "How To Build Realistic Model Railroad Scenery" by Dave Frary which covers all types of model railroad scenery including tunnels.

The next SHMRRC meeting will be at the Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.
