SHMRRC Minutes for the Monthly Meeting

The meeting was held at Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church, President Jeff Graybill presiding.

Presidents Report:

We have been officially accepted for the Greenberg Train Show at the Monroeville Convention Center on Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24. Setup will be on Friday, July 22 and based on previous shows will start between 1:00 and 2:00.  Times for the shows will be from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm each day. As in previous Greenberg shows, we will be combining our modules with NMRA Div 2.  Members who were not at the June meeting are requested to notify Jeff Graybill to confirm their participation so that we can plan the layout with Div 2.

 

Treasurers Report:

The current balance in the treasury is $4,688 25.  Cash on hand is $301.00 and funds in the bank are $4387.25.

 

Program:

Dave Bodnar demonstrated a miniature Mars light made of 7 led bulbs that are programmed to consecutively light to imitate the Mars light motion.

 

Dale Vilsack brought a DCC++EX unit he built that can be operated through WiFi with an app on a smart phone.

 

Rich Aubel re-demonstrated the use of two switches to control one turnout using the control system from Dave Bodnar’s website. The two switches are wired as a 3-way switch and will enable a turnout to be controlled from opposite sides of a walkaround or peninsula layout.

 

Dave Bodnar has initiated a Google Docs site called “Vendors I Use”.  The purpose is to help members find vendors they have used that offer the best value for the items they need to buy.  The location of the Google Doc was sent by email on June 28^th to all members with a link to access it.  Members are encouraged to add vendors and category of items they sell that they have used in the past and that they found to be reliable and cost effective.
